  • Where are the closest airports?
The recommended airports are Lyon, Paris and Geneva. Lyon airport is the closest airport to our meeting point in Grenoble. There is transport via Train ( About 2 hours ), Bus and Taxi available from here. Paris is one of the busiest and most accessible airports in Europe. There is a direct train ( about 3 hours ) from Paris to Grenoble. Geneva is a 2 hour train ride away from Grenoble, and because it is in Switzerland, there is a far greater chance of delays due to strikes which do happen in France sometimes.
  • What trains can I take?
Currently we are too far out from the trip dates to book on trains. Schedules usually arrive three months ahead of time. We will send a newsletter update as we get closer with some options from the local airports, as well as options from Florence for our travelers coming from Italy. Commonly used websites to book trains in Europe are: https://www.omio.com/ Trainline Attached is an excerpt from Rick Steves website about managing train stations in Europe. https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/train-stations#buying-tickets
  • Is transportation provided?
We will be providing transport to the Lauvitel lodge on May 27th from the Grenoble Train station. Pick up will be at 2pm. We will also return you to the Grenoble Train Station on June 1st at around 1pm. It will be your responsibility to get to the meeting points on time to take advantage of the shuttle availability. Of course things happen in travel like delayed flights or trains. We will have contact forms well ahead of time so you can find us, and we can find you as your traveling. If you are anticipating arriving on your own at a different time, please let us know so we can anticipate your arrival. We can also give taxi or alternate transport options if needed.
